DITMAR PART 1
A poetic short film about a blind boy who walks fearlessly through his life.
> Synopsis
Ditmar only sees light and dark, but that doesn't prevent him of walking his own way through life. He has walked and walked, and grown and heard, for 5 years, across paths, roads and through nature, with above all his hearing as a guide. This film gives an idea of Ditmar's world, seen through his father's camera.
> The producer
‘The theatre and video factory ‘Morrend Volk’ (Grumbling People) was developed to produce small-scaled theatre shows and short films. Actually, the company is operating by own support. “ditmar part 1” is the first of a hopeful series of short films, that, beside the growing of the main character, also will show the evolution of the father/director.
> The actor
Ditmar Goes (°1997) is the director's son and suffers from LCA (Leber's Congenital Amaurosis), a syndrome characterised by severe visual deficiency, with total or nearly total blindness, present at birth or shortly thereafter. Ditmar has a normal life: he studies in a ‘normal’ school, braille instead of black text and he has a flair for mathematics. His intrests are piano, cello, judo, athletics and playing game boy.
> The director
Rudy Goes was born in 1958 in Ostend (Belgium) and works since 1987 as a freelance actor and theatre director.
In 2001, he started using video projections in his theatre work. After that, he got an order to put a play on the screen and currently he is making independent short films.
> The sound
plays a principal part in this film. To reinforce the identification with the blind protagonist, the sound strongly comes to the front. Even when the sound is completely missing, the idea of sound stays present. This film has no dialogues and no music.
